CHEVROLET VOLT AND CRUZE
CHEVROLET kicked off the press frenzy at the LA AUTO SHOW with a peek both outside and inside their new VOLT. they also rolled out their new small car...THE CRUZE to a lot of fanfare and hoopla! they drew this many people and they weren't even giving anything away!
THAT'S A SUBARU? A HYBRID SUBARU? C'MON!
click below for a look at a SUBARU like you have never seen before...the HYBRID TRANSPORT! i thought that this was the coolest car at the show after the slot cars i drove at the FORD exhibit! i am especially fond of the gullwing doors and the clean interior. could this be the shape of things to come for SUBIE?
IT'S A FIESTA FIESTA IN L.A.
both FORD and my buddy jeff zurchmiede think the FIESTA is going to be huge in this country after taking CAR OF THE YEAR honors in Europe. Me? I think they might be right as the Fiesta is well optioned, fun to drive, has a nice interior, is supposed to get better than 40 mpg and going to cost somewhere in the mid teens. oh and the tuners are going to love them as FORD tried to show us in L.A. yeah and that new MUSTANG with the 300 hp and 30 mpg looked pretty nice as well! click on the video below to see both!
JUST IN TIME FOR THE RECESSION TO BE OVER...THE 400 GRAND LEXUS!!
i dont know that they will let me anywhere near it to drive it but if you want to know whats hot for the folks who still have money this is it..the LEXUS LFA. over 500 horses and a stated top speed of 202 miles per hour it clearly looks like the race is on to see which professional athlete gets the first speeding ticket in this limited edition baby!!!
it is as wild as superbowl media day! the l.a. auto show has 'em crawling out of the woodwork and then some. toughest thing to do down here is to get a clear shot at a vehicle! some really interesting first views including the FORD FIESTA debut, KIA'S SORENTO, THE VOLKSWAGEN UP! LITE (upper left photo) ,and SUBARU'S long awaited hybrid, the HYBRID TRANSPORT (center left photo) is here from Japan. CHRYSLER has two really cool cars here...the lower forty JEEP CONCEPT (photo lower left) and the record setting 2011 VIPER (photo below).

maybe the oddest car unveiled today was HONDA'S look into the future of urban transportation...the PNUT. i'm still trying to figure out if i like it or not but i give it a lot of credit for being different. it is designed so that several different types of propulsion can be used to power it with the rear body a module that contains the engine and drive gear. what do you think of the PNUT?

the coffee is all gone, people are stealing high fat muffins for later and there isn't a piece of fruit in sight...it must be the media work room. here's a look at where i will be working the next day and a half. sure looks like l.a. no? grey and cloudy outside but in here media from all over the world are working together in peace and harmony and trying not to spill. I am right in back of the boys from msnautos and will try not to look at their notes...too much. pretty optimistic here so far as we wait for coffee refills and to see what GM vice chair Bob Lutz can come up with in a speech with 24 hours notice. i'll be doing a live shot on KOMO at 8:45 this morning. more to come...

GM Vice Chair Bob Lutz to give kickoff speech tomorrow morning after GM Chair resigns. Should be a colorful session! Will Seattle be one of the markets where Chevy's revolutionary Volt be sold? We'll know by about 10 am... check us @dttweet. Kia's new Sorento makes it's debut tomorrow as does Ford Fiesta (at right) and Mustang. have seen both! 40 mpg for the Fiesta 30 for the 'stang.
